Jim Nabors’ Traditional Song at Indy 500
Jim Nabors will go on with the old tradition of singing “Back Home Again in Indiana” during the Indy 500. This traditional song is sung by Jim Nabors every year for the last thirty years and this tradition has never faced any change.
The traditional song “Back Home Again in Indiana” was sung for the first time in 1946 and, after that, became unwavering custom of the event. The song is sung right after the ending of the Star Spangled Banner. As soon as the song ends, balloons are released in to the sky marking the official beginning of the event, Indy 500.
Jim Nabors is famous for playing Gomer Pyle on “The Andy Griffith Show.” According to reports, he was erroneously told that he would be singing the nation anthem. He was very much amazed to hear this because he always sang Back Home Again in Indiana on Indy 500. In this event, People join Nabors to sing the song with him.
Nabors narrated his first time experience of singing the traditional song and told media reporters that he was not well-prepared to sing the song and he wrote the song on his hand to perform before the crowd.
